Learn About Panamanian Coffee
The Ultimate Guide to Panama’s Finest Coffee – Geisha, Pacamara, and More
Welcome to the heart of the Panabean experience — where curiosity meets quality. Our mission isn’t just to sell coffee. We want to educate, inspire, and connect you with the farmers, traditions, and terroir that make Panama’s coffee some of the most celebrated in the world.
This page is your portal to learning everything about specialty Panamanian coffee — including how we source, roast, and bring it to your door.

What Makes Panama a Coffee Paradise?
Panama may be small, but its coffee impact is massive. Our coffee grows in the highlands of Boquete, Volcán, Renacimiento, and Santa Clara, nestled between cloud forests and volcanic soil. These regions offer the perfect mix of elevation, rainfall, and temperature, giving rise to unique microclimates that concentrate flavor in every bean.
Why It Matters:
- slower cherry development and deeper flavor.
- enriches the beans with natural minerals.
- ensure only the ripest cherries are picked.

Coffee Varieties We Celebrate
Geisha (or Gesha)
Known as the “champagne of coffee”, Geisha is Panama’s crown jewel. It’s famous for its floral notes, delicate body and a clean finish. Geisha from Panama has won countless international awards and is considered one of the most expensive and elite coffees in the world.
Pacamara
A bold, full-bodied coffee with notes of dark chocolate, stone fruits and spice with a creamy mouth feel. Pacamara is a hybrid between the Pacas and Maragogipe varieties, offering intensity and complexity.
Other Varieties We Feature
- Caturra - Smooth and sweet
- Typica – Balanced and traditional
- Bourbon – Rich and round-bodied
Each coffee we offer is traceable to a specific farm or estate, meaning every sip tells a story.

From Farm to Cup: How Your Coffee is Born
At Panabean, we’re proud to be part of every stage of the journey, from seed to sip.
Growing
Our partner farms are small, often family-run, and located at high altitudes where cherries mature slowly and develop rich complexity.
Harvesting
Cherries are hand-picked only when fully ripe — this can mean visiting the same plant several times during a harvest.
Processing
We offer beans processed through:
- Washed (wet) – Bright, clean flavor
- Natural (dry) – Fruit-forward, sweet
- Honey – A balance of both
Drying
Beans are sun-dried on raised beds and carefully turned to prevent over-fermentation or mold.
Roasting in Panama
Unlike many brands that roast in the U.S. or Europe, we roast at origin, giving you fresher, more flavorful coffee — and supporting the Panamanian economy.
